Damn transmission

My transmission broke yesterday and it would not let me go reverse. I am glad that I parked on the street right behind a co-worker. He had to move his car for me to get out of the spot. I drove the car to Redinbo Transmission and they just drove the car for one block and they told me that the "sun gear shell" broke. I did not know that someone could diagnose a transmission problem by just driving it for one block. He also told me that it would cost $1800. Anyway, I had someone else look at it for second opinion and I should know the problem and the damage today.
